What plugs Greece uses
Greek outlets accept both Type C and Type F (often called Schuko or "Europlug"). All EU plugs work in Greece without adaptation. Most newer Greek hotels also have USB-A and USB-C ports built into outlets — increasingly the norm in 4-star+ hotels.
What to bring by country
- From UK/Ireland: Type G (3-pin) → Type C/F adapter. Buy at airport for £3-5 or Amazon. Voltage compatible (UK 230V = Greece 230V).
- From US/Canada: Type A/B (flat pins) → Type C/F adapter. Voltage CONVERSION needed (US 110V → Greece 230V). Modern devices (phones, laptops, cameras) are dual-voltage — check the brick. Hair dryers and curling irons usually NEED a converter or will burn out.
- From Australia/NZ: Type I (3-flat-pins) → Type C/F adapter. Voltage compatible.
- From rest of EU: No adapter needed.
What to leave at home
Don't bring: US hair dryers, curling irons, electric razors that aren't dual-voltage. They will burn out instantly on Greek 230V even with a plug adapter. Buy a cheap European hair dryer at a Greek pharmacy for €20-30 if needed.
Do bring: A compact Type C/F adapter with multiple USB ports. The Anker 5-port travel cube is ideal — works in any EU country, plus your iPhone/Android cable plugs into the USB ports.
